2003 - 2006 EMSC Strategic Focus

Below is a summary of information gathered during EMSC's strategic planning process from five identified strategic futures: systems, education, research, community partnership, and funding. These identified strategies will be the framework for the EMSC program.


Systems

1. Integrate EMSC into Community Health Planning Especially for diverse populations
2. Address children's needs in the development of the state trauma system Ensure that guidelines incorporate ACEP-AAP hospital emergency minimum guidelines Ensure that guidelines incorporate pediatric disaster planning
3. Ensure the continuum of care for children Promote interagency collaboration on the reporting of child abuse, neglect, and violence Educate providers and parents regarding the needs for emergency public health data and patient confidentiality

Education

1. Present pediatric components at existing conferences
2. Maintain web page
3. Provide ongoing list of educational offerings
4. Minimum standards for re-certification of EMS personnel

Research

1. Improving communication about pediatric injury
2. Query the MN STAR system
3. Assess EMS practices in diverse populations
4. Support and assess new systems of care

Community Partnerships
